14 years of Anchor Our Special Ale
December 2nd, 2007 Joe SixpackXmas beer aficionado Keith Kelleher (right) broke out his stock of Anchor Christmas beers at McMenamin’s in Mount Airy yesterday. He’s been collecting them pretty much every year since he first tasted the spiced holiday ale in 1990. Yesterday, we tried samples dating back to 1994.  The session was a lot of fun with some interesting flavors (the older the bottle, the more the fruit and the less the spice), but I have to agree with Andy Musser (left), the Anchor rep and former Phillies announcer: this beer is best when it’s fresh. “It doesn’t improve with age, it just changes,” Andy said.
